Uoni V980 Plus - Capsule Review

V980 Plus + Self-cleaning bin

I bought this on Amazon, received it three weeks ago, and have been putting it through its paces before writing a review. To date, this has been a great purchase. I'm writing a concise point-form review, but am more than happy to answer any questions.

The Robot.

First, the robot itself, whom my spouse - arbiter of cleanliness in the household - has decided does a good job.

Likes

- Excellent LIDAR mapping and navigation; persistent maps, no need to remap everytime

- Powerful suction (3 levels)

- 3-hour battery

- no camera on connected robot (privacy concerns)

- Systematic vacuuming and mopping

- Automatic dust disposal

- Great price point for a self-cleaning machine

- Seems robust and well-built

- Stylish

Dislikes/missing

- Can sometimes get ensnared by carpet fringes and loose power cords

- Would be nice to have either a carrying handle or a cradle or bag to transport it from one floor to another

The Uoni Connect App

The app is quite complex and rewards those who study it. A manual would defintely be useful.

Likes

- Real-time monitoring of the robot's position and cleaning track

- Four cleaning strategies: Full floor, individual, multiple zone, and waypoint zone

- Ability to create, edit, and save virtual no-go zones

- Ability to create, edit, and save virtual cleaning zones

- Ability to recall any map, complete with no-go zones and cleaning zones

Dislikes/missing

- Inability to edit rooms

- Inability to schedule partial cleaning

- Inability to rename maps or attach tags

Conclusion:

The V980 plus is a remarkable machine that is a useful cleaning tool now, and will become even more flexible when the app is tweaked.

I thought I would add an additional comment if I may. At the outset, I had a bit of difficulty connecting the robot to wifi, until I disabled the 5Ghz band on my router. Then, everything was fine. Yesterday, I had to re-enable the 5Ghz band... and the robot went offline, and would not connect until I had once again disabled the 5Ghz band. In case anyone else has connection issues.

Hi there, thanks for sharing your opinion. What type of surface do you have? Do you have pets, do you need extra power for deep carpet cleaning?

Hello Natalie, thanks for reading the quick review.

We have a mix of surfaces including short/medium pile carpets (some with dangerous-to-robots fringes) and hard floors (hardwood, floating floors, hard tile).

We do not have pets but we do have a 4-year old grandchild ;-) . His bi-weekly visits definitely warrant a cleanup afterwards. I think that having pets would be an added and compelling reason for having a robot.

I always run the bot on maximum suction (2700Pa according to the manufacturer) since the slight increase in noise isn't that disturbing to us.

Happy to answer more questions, as required.

Best, Pierre
